Human resource management regards training and development as a function concerned with organizational activity aimed at bettering the job performance of individuals and groups in organizational settings. Training and development can be described as “an educational process which involves the sharpening of skills, concepts, changing of attitude and gaining more knowledge to enhance the performance of employees”.
The field has gone by several names, including “Human Resource Development”, “Human Capital Development” and “Learning and Development”. However, the Training & Development Manager is an integral component of an HR team. As well as supporting other HR team members, they are required to lead efforts for organisational development by identifying skill gaps in the workforce and arranging training accordingly.
Although supported by Training Professionals, the Training & Development Manager is the primary decision maker regarding the training of employees. By providing efficient learning and development practices, a Training & Development Manager can help an organisation to execute their business strategy.
Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time they submit their application, in order to be eligible to sit for the CTDM exam. These requirements are outlined below:
Any applicants with lesser qualifications than the above will be reviewed by the HRMI Certification Board to determine the eligibility for the program.
The program is designed to provide in-depth applied skills for professionals assigned to manage training and development functions and offers an extensive blend of theories and practices in this field. The program serves as an excellent forum for participants to obtain wider insight into the broad spectrum encompassing training and development.
Upon successful completion of the CTDM exam, participants will be accorded recognition as “Certified Training & Development Manager” by HRMI.
